OUR FUNDS

Lauren's Foundation lives out our mission through a variety of funds including our Scholarship, Sunflower and Brain Tumor Research Funds, in addition to other charitable giving that assists local families in need.

SUNFLOWER FUND

This fund provides financial assistance for families with seriously ill children by helping to pay household expenses for a period of time, allowing families to spend more time and resources with their child.

SCHOLARSHIPS

This fund recognizes and supports local high school seniors that have been confronted with adverse life circumstances, but worked to overcome them.

RESEARCH FUND

This fund supports research into the causes of brain tumors, as well as treatments and cures.  An annual donation is made from this fund to the American Brain Tumor Society.

How are monies collected in Lauren’s memory used? From May, 2005 to December, 2022, Lauren’s Foundation has invested over $350,000 in the local community through our charitable funds. Click the Annual Fund Report link below for an accounting of how those funds have been utilized.

2022 Annual Fund Report

$100,000

Ninety (90) scholarships awarded to Berks County students that have risen above personal adversity and challenges, who will continue their education at an accredited college or university.

Awarded to eighteen (18) Sunflower Fund recipient families caring for seriously ill children, providing financial assistance with household/living expenses, medical costs and related expenses.

$15,000

Used to fund ongoing expenses for the Gift-of-Life Family House in Philadelphia, PA, providing housing and meals for organ transplant patients and their families as they await transplant surgery.

$17,500

Used to establish a permanent charitable fund at the Berks County Community Foundation that makes annual donations to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).

$19,000

Scholarships to Drexel University (Lauren’s alma mater) and DPhiE students, and other college students that persevered through adverse circumstances and challenges to excel academically.

$25,500

Contributions to the American Brain Tumor Association, Elle's Angels Foundation and other brain tumor organizations to support continued research and the quest for a cure.

Donations/financial assistance to local families and organizations that support research for cancer and other illnesses or serve special needs populations.

Donations to local Parks, Recreation and Police departments in Berks municipalities, to support children’s programs, events and activities.

Donations to the Wilson High School IM Able chapter to support the purchase of adaptive equipment for children with debilitating illness or disease.
